As a parent today, the world seems to put pressure on us to have it all together. We are expected to have our children involved in every sport, act well behaved, always color coordinated and, of course, on time. If we don’t live up to the lives we have “pinned” on Pinterest, we feel as though we have failed. We feel as though we have failed our children, our spouses, our friends and ourselves. We have great intentions and we plan big with all desire to meet those expectations. I want to challenge the way you think and plan. God’s Word teaches, “Whatever you do, work with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not men.” (Colossians 3:23) You don’t have to succumb to the pressures of the world to be everywhere and to do everything. Make it your priority to work with all your heart, and to do everything in life for the Lord.
Sometimes we can’t live our Pinterest lives. There are days we don’t make it to practice on time, our snacks are not seasonally coordinated and our children show up to school with no undies on. It happens…life happens. Yes, it is okay for us to just flip the cushions instead of vacuuming. Give yourself some grace…God surely does.
